The Franschhoek Boutique Hotel was my first pleasant little retreat away by myself and it was just what I needed and exceeded all expectations.
Nestled in the heart of my favourite town, also known for its great food and exquisite wine, it’s what I would call a distinct sophistication meets a classy modern touch.
The convenience of the hotel, allows you to ditch your car for the weekend and explore the town as intended. Being situated on the main road, and within walking distance from trendy boutiques, fine dining restaurants and lovely art galleries – it’s the perfect weekend getaway to relax and have a taste of undiscovered culture right on your doorstep.
As Cape Townians, we often tend to travel when the season is warmer but why not escape for a romantic getaway, to celebrate your birthday – winter or summer. I’m a (not-so-happy) winter baby, and if you can get me out the house, you too can take an hour drive out to get the rest you deserve.
With rooms offering unlimited wi-fi, a mini bar fridge (and mine was fully stashed), heated flooring and a homely fireplace; the breathtaking view and comfort are added bonuses to an already perfect stay.
The hotel can’t decide which Hennessy to savour more – the usual or their luxury room. I am no expert but I say theirs. Or perhaps it could be that their unbelievably scrumptious breakfast had me feeling like a kid in a candy store.
It’s as if they chose this room for me based on a lifetime of friendship – it matched my style and taste so well, it was as if I stepped into a place I had been before, made specifically for me.
“Hennessy, whether it’s after an illustrious business meeting, celebrating that special day or just a quiet night by a roaring fire, this room like Frances’ iconic cognac is wooded with a smooth finish blended with contemporary lines. Encompassing the timeless quality of restored historic pieces hand selected from the Marche. Often celebrated by men this room is bold, muslin yet finished with a feminine finesse.” – I couldn’t have said it any better than they already have.
I would still be tucked away in my hidden gem if reality weren’t so real and no one needed me.
Here’s a little treat for everyone looking for a good excuse for a break…
